To manage the enormous influx of day visitors and preserve the unique charm of the city, Venice introduced a new ticket system on January 16, 2024.
Starting from 2025, purchasing an entry ticket will be necessary on 54 days.
This approach aims to encourage day tourists to explore the city on less crowded days, thus reducing the impact of mass tourism.

On which days do you need to pay the entry fee?

Is there a ticket limit?
There is no ticket limit for the 54 days. Don’t worry, you can book your ticket even at short notice.
The ticket price is €5 per person if paid within (and including) the fourth-to-last day before your arrival. This is an earlybird discount.
If you pay the fee within 3 days before your arrival, the price doubles to €10 per person. Children under 14 are exempt from the fee.
You only need the ticket from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. No ticket is required for entry outside these hours.

“If the day of access to the historic center of Venice is a Sunday: With a reservation made up to and including the previous Wednesday, you pay €5.00 per person; however, if the reservation is made starting from the third day before, i.e., Thursday, the fee is €10.00 per person.”
Do you need a ticket for exclusive visits to the islands?
If you do not wish to visit the historic center but only plan to visit Lido di Venezia (including Alberoni and Malamocco), Pellestrina, Murano, Burano, Torcello, Sant’Erasmo, Mazzorbo, Mazzorbetto, Vignole, S. Andrea, La Certosa, San Servolo, S. Clemente, and Poveglia, you do not need an entry ticket.
You can book your ticket on the new online platform
The website http://cda.ve.it is the new booking platform for purchasing your entry ticket to Venice. Be sure to bring your passport or ID card. During controls, the police will match your entry ticket (a QR code) with the details on your document.
Do you need an entry ticket if you are staying in Venice?
If your accommodation is located within the municipality of Venice, you do not need to pay the entry fee, as you will already have paid the tourist tax to your accommodation (and thus to the city of Venice). However, you must register and request an “exempt” (“esente”) ticket for the duration of your stay (from arrival to departure). If in doubt, it is best to contact your accommodation for information.
